My Daily Triumphs...

To start with i am not a blogger per se, just thought of sharing something interesting that has been happening in my life right now where i work. If its worth sharing (i hope) and if you think you'll find something useful about it then you are all free to give your unsolicited comment. With Nora Jones playing on the background i find myself a bit encourage and enticed. As what the title of the blog says TRIUMPHS, I deliberately omitted the phrase the AGONY OF DEFEAT so as not to sound negative to the reader. Armed with a glass of red wine i contemplate carefully the contents of my intentions. Is this the proper forum to discuss such topic well then my other self told me Hey its now or never so here goes....

I just came from a DSP Workshop, a couple of hours ago. For everybody's information the meaning of the acronyms DSP is Direct Support Professional. Its what is commonly known as Caregivers where the country i came from (my beloved country the Philippines), here in America it is called as such and never in my short experience have i heard the word "caregiver" in their terminology. I hope you will find it interesting or useful in some way. Yes you are considered a professional when you are entitled to be called one and with dignity and respect. So where does my daily Triumph and Defeat comes in well its in the place where i work which is a home or a facility that caters to "individuals" who are developmentally disabled which i defined in my own words as people or individuals who cannot function normally due to some genetic mistakes that they did not want to happen to them. Blame it on circumstances that happened before they were conceived. No you can't blame the parents entirely. Ethically blaming is not a form of solution in the American society instead they SOLVE it in ways it will benefit the INDIVIDUAL and not be the problem in the society.

We have a clients, six of them and due to professional ethics i am not allowed to name them thats one of their numerous rights. one of them is a boy who i will aptly name client #"1". He's one major cause of many defeats that I encounter daily in the facility, but there are times when you think all your effort is not wasted when a day gets done without any untoward incident happening. Then theres the other five...come to think of its already 11pm and i still have to work tomorrow. We wake up 530 am here...that's why i called it my daily okey, till then asta la vista beybi!

Nicely written Bro...i'm proud of you plus thanks for the info about DSP. I learned something new reading this. Just like you, i guess all of us have triumphs to defeat everyday, that's part of the journey.

I wish you well and we miss you here..
