MS Excel question, please help!

Hi guys, I need your help!

I'm working on this Excel worksheet my associate sent me and I need our IT guy to export it into our accounting system. The problem is, the file gets being rejected because of some invalid characters that are scattered within some cells. I'm talking about those little squares with a question mark in it... does that make sense? They are present in cells that have really long data in it. Our programmer said they're called linefeeds or hard returns and they got copied over from some other data source.
We're trying to figure out how to remove those linefeed characters, and I need it asap! Search and Replace command won't work, it can't find those characters... weird huh!?. We hate to edit those cells one by one, or it's gonna take us maybe a week :(

Can anyone, patulong naman please...!

Thanks!

Try using a macro to do a custom 'find and replace' routine. Look for the linefeed character "chr(10)" then replace it with a blank or empty space (""). You're right, just doing the usual find and replace from the Edit menu won't yield those characters.

I hope this helps, goodluck!

Thank you for your suggestion, you're right the search and replace on Edit menu cannot find those characters. I hate to ask, can you tell me more about that macro? I am completely lost in that area. My time is running out.. :-(

ok i'll give it a shot. try this attached macro. it will remove all linefeeds and hard returns from your worksheet. just select the cells, then run the macro. if you don't know how to use a macro, it's time you call the help of your programmer! ;-)
